The last day of our stay in the Upper Peninsula included more waterfalls, lighthouses, and hiking in the woods.
Rocky Shoreline, Lake Superior
We pitched our tents in the dark on a cliff above Lake Superior our last night there. This was the view we found in the morning.
Sand Point Lighthouse, Baraga, Michigan
The last of the lighthouses we visited.
Sand Point Lighthouse
A beautiful brick lighthouse on the western shore of Keweenaw Bay.
Teepees with Arrow
Entrance to the Bishop Baraga shrine at L'Anse.
Shrine of the Snowshoe Priest
A shrine to Bishop Baraga, an early missionary and the first bishop of the Upper Peninsula, who traveled his circuit on snowshoes.
Damselfly Shadow
An ebony jewelwing damselfly on the topside of a leaf.
Canyon Falls, Michigan
The last of the waterfalls we visited, this one is on the Sturgeon River.
Great Spangled Fritillary
Butterfly on wood chips in the middle of a hiking trail at Canyon Falls.
Hobomok Skipper
A small butterfly taking nourishment.
Great Horned Owl
Found at a rest area this owl seemed to be sick. It was on the ground and while it looked at us it didn't move. We called the DNR to come and help it.
The Crystal Drive-In
An old-fashioned drive-in restaurant at Crystal Falls.
